Winifred Mare Flowers, age 83 of Coffeyville passed away Friday, February 24, 2023 in Kansas City, Missouri at the home of her daughter, Dina Newman.
Affectionally known to many as "Mama Winnie" Winifred entered this world on March 2, 1939 the second child of Mary and Edward Austin. Growing up in Coffeyville's "Nappy Holla" she learned the value of a good work ethic, a commitment to family and love for God.
Winifred opened Busy Beauty Hair Place on 12th Street in Coffeyville after she married Allen Flowers on June 5, 1978. From press-and-curls to Jheri curls, to afros and perms, she styled customers of all ages and ethnicities until her "unofficial" retirement in 2017.
Winifred was an active member in the Order of the Eastern Star, Golden Circle Chapter #31. A long time member of St. John Baptist Church (now St. John Church of Faith).
Wake will be Friday, March 3, 2023 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Mission Funeral Services, 502 S, union
Final viewing on Saturday, March 4, 2023 from 9 to 10 am, St. John Church of Faith, 602 W. Martin, Service beginning at 10 a.m.
